Tournament uno

Posted in '06 games by Administrator on the May 30th, 2006

So the first Tournament of 2006 goes down as one of the longest games in NSCC history, clocking in at right around 8 hours. Also on the list would have to be the Askimbo vs. Probable Cause game of 2000 and the rain tournament at the Wolff house in 2004, where Ryan Casey got stuck on the hill wicket for 6 hours. The general consensus at the game seemed to be that we should come up with some sort of play-off scheme for Tourney 2. If we had to pick a day to play an 8 hour game though, Sunday was a good one, as the weather was perfect and there was plenty of good food and cold beer and such. Boyd and Mike’s hospitality payed off for them, with Boyd taking first and Mike getting his money back for third place. Nate took second place. Game tonight at Appelbaucher park. Game on Mother Fuckers!

Mallets galore!

Posted in random shit by Administrator on the May 26th, 2006

I told most everyone on Tuesday that I’d gone on a croquet shopping spree, but the extent to which I’d gone didn’t hit home until I received all 14 new mallets yesterday, which until I get money from the investing parties, brings the number of mallets that I personally own up to a grand total 29. How the fuck do I own 29 croquet mallets? It strikes me as a tad excessive. And the frightening thing is, that after counting them all up, I don’t want to sell any of them and break up the collection.

If unbridled enthusiasm were worth any points I’d be doing a lot better in the standings this season.

Game 2

A lot of people pussied out on game 2, most likely because of the weather, but at the last minute the croquet gods smiled down on us and the sun came out. It was still pretty frickin’ cold, but at least it stopped snowing. Most conspicuously absent was Bergonz, who picked the location for the game. Dominic won this one to move in to first place and picked Sloans lake for game 3. Boyd also picked up a point. So here’s how it stands now.

Dominic-3 points

Dave Bergonz-2 points

Leighton-1 point

Boyd- 1 point
